Galerie Sept is excited to share our participation in the upcoming Art on Paper fair in Brussels, from October 3rd to 6th, 2024. This prestigious event, set in the stunning Tour & Taxis Gare Maritime, will showcase a diverse range of contemporary and historical drawings from over 60 established and emerging galleries worldwide.

For this special occasion, we are thrilled to present a solo exhibition by South Korean artist Lee Hyun Joung, introducing her work to a new audience. Known for her deep interaction between traditional Korean materials and modern artistic expression, Lee Hyun Joung uses Hanji—the traditional Korean paper of her homeland—not merely as a canvas but as a co-creator of her subjects.

In this exhibition, she explores new dimensions and subjects, showcasing a series of works where Hanji is transformed through her meticulous process. The artist’s technique involves dissolving Hanji into a pulp, spreading it over wooden boards, and drawing intricate lines with ink and pigments, creating textures and volumes that transcend the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Each piece invites viewers into a visual dialogue that is both dynamic and serene.
