ROSS HEAD’s practice is primarily concerned with the lives of queer people and the ways in which they exist in the world, both now and throughout history. Playfully depicting visions of desire and exploring representations of sexuality within contemporary society, his multi-disciplinary practice seeks to interrogate and address the presentation of the male figure in art, mainstream media and popular culture. His frequently references contemporary erotic magazines, as well historic examples from the early 20th century to illustrate the different periods of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. It seeks to foreground these histories, creating a platform where queer intimacy and desire is celebrated.
